Roof Height Changes the Driving Limit
A “330 lb Sprinter limit” is incomplete. The high-roof dynamic figure is 331 lb, while the standard-roof dynamic figure is 661 lb in the current guideline. The parked static figure does not authorize driving at that load.
The Lowest Limit Governs
Compare the vehicle roof ceiling, longitudinal rails, crossbars, mounts, accessory, fasteners, axle ratings, tires, and payload. Include every installed component. A high carrier rating cannot raise the Mercedes vehicle limit.
Choose the Architecture
- Longitudinal rails: establish attachment along the factory roof locations and support configurable crossbar positions.
- Crossbars: support defined accessories at the spacing required by those accessories.
- Platform or deck: adds continuous surface and mass; use the platform maker's point-load, support, and restraint documentation.
Installation Access
LoadSpan-T uses the VS30 factory roof attachment locations and does not require new roof holes, but the through-fastened installation requires interior access. Do not describe it as an exterior-only, no-headliner-access installation.
Owner Reality Check
You're going to run into weight issues if you do a full rack and a tent. The rack weight adds up before you even load it.

Build a Roof-Load Worksheet
Let V be the applicable Mercedes moving limit, R the installed longitudinal rails, B all bars or platform parts, A permanently mounted accessories, and C trip cargo. The moving total is R + B + A + C. Remaining capacity is V − that total. Use measured or manufacturer-published mass for every term; never fill the worksheet with category averages.
