INEOS Grenadier Lifted Build: Tires, Clearances & Roof Rack Math

Eibach springs, BFG KO2 295/70R18s, crossbars on top — a 2.5" lift changes more than ride height. Here's the complete clearance math, driveshaft warning, and what forum owners actually build.

Quick Answer

A 2.5" Eibach lift fits 295/70R18 BFG KO2s on OEM 18" wheels (verified by forum owners). That raises roof height by roughly 2.5", which matters if you run crossbars in a parking structure. Eibach publishes a blanket driveshaft warning for ride-height changes, and forum reports include failures on both lifted and stock trucks — check your warranty position before ordering.

Why Grenadier Owners Lift

The stock Grenadier is not a soft-roader. Factory ground clearance is 264 mm (10.4"), front approach angle 35.5°, rear departure angle 36°. For most dirt roads, forest tracks, and moderate trail work, those numbers are genuinely capable. The Grenadier's terrain response system and locking differentials do most of the heavy lifting.

But a segment of owners want more: bigger tires for mud float and rock protection, additional clearance for axle articulation, and the visual statement of a lifted platform. The suspension architecture — coil-over front, coil-spring rear, solid axles both ends — supports meaningful spring-only lifts without requiring control arm or track bar modifications that IFS platforms demand.

The three reasons that show up most often on TheIneosForum:

  1. Tire clearance — moving from stock 255/70R18s to 295/70R18s (about 34.3" vs 32.1") requires lift to avoid rubbing under full steering lock and articulation
  2. Ground clearance headroom — adding 2.5" of lift gives usable margin on rock ledges and deep rut crossings where the factory clearance is right at the limit
  3. Approach and departure geometry — taller tires steepen approach angle marginally; owners note the difference in step-over obstacles

Lift Kit Options (2025–2026)

01

Eibach Pro-Lift Kit Most common on TheIneosForum

Eibach's Pro-Lift kit for the 2024–2026 Grenadier is the most widely documented lift on the forum. Eibach lists three spring configurations: +1.2" front / 0" rear leveling springs, +1.7" front / +1.2" rear, and +2.5" front / +1.2" rear. Eibach also lists PRO-DAMPER reservoir shocks that accommodate lift ranges up to 0–2.5" front and 0–1.5" rear; that shock range is separate from Eibach's blanket driveshaft warning.

My Grenadier lifted on Eibach springs, factory wheels on BFG KO2 295 70 18's.

— shawnpalmer, TheIneosForum, thread 12415001, March 2024

The Eibach 2.5" front kit is the most common choice among US owners running 295/70R18s or 285/70R17s. Stock shocks are commonly run with the taller springs, and Eibach notes the springs are tested with factory dampers while recommending their Pro-Truck Reservoir shocks as the matched upgrade.

02

Shadowmarq × King Shocks 1.5" Springs 2025 market entrant

Released late 2025, the Shadowmarq × King Shocks collaborative springs offer a 1.5" lift with a more progressive spring rate than the Eibach. Early forum impressions from owner boise (TheIneosForum, December 2025) described the handling balance as "more composed over rough terrain" compared to the Eibach 2.5" at highway speeds. The tradeoff: slightly less lift means 295/70R18s are marginal at full lock without a front spacer.

03

30mm Kahn Design Kit UK market, Chelsea Truck Company

Available through Chelsea Truck Company in the UK, the 30mm (1.18") Kahn kit is understood to use Eibach springs in a 30mm specification. At 30mm, you are still within the low-lift range, but Eibach's published driveshaft language is a general warning rather than a numeric clearance table — see the driveshaft section below before ordering.

INEOS Warranty Position

INEOS classifies suspension lift as a customer-caused modification. A failed driveshaft, steering component, or wheel bearing following lift installation is unlikely to receive warranty coverage. Forum thread "Diesel Lift, which driveshaft?" (June 2026) documented exactly this scenario. Know your position before you order springs.

Tire Sizes: What Actually Fits

The Grenadier ships on either 17" or 18" wheels depending on trim. US Fieldmaster variants commonly arrive on 18" OEM alloys with 255/70R18 tires (about 32.1" OD), while Trialmaster examples commonly ship on 17" wheels with BFG KO2s. The UK-spec often uses 265/70R17s on 17" alloys.

Lift Height Tire Size OD (inches) Wheel Clearance Notes
Stock (0") 255/70R18 32.1" OEM 18" Factory fitment
Stock (0") 285/70R17 32.7" OEM 17" No rub — confirmed multiple times on Facebook groups
Stock (0") 255/85R17 (MT Baja Boss A/T) 34.6" OEM 17" No rub at full lock, full articulation — forum confirmed; owner-measured circumference (108.6") matches MT published spec
Stock (0") 35×10.50R17 34.5–34.8" OEM 17" No rub reported off-road (Kenda Klever, secondhand owner reports) — not yet firsthand verified. Toyo R/T Trail (34.5") runs smaller than the reported-fit Kenda
1.5" 285/70R17 32.7" OEM 17" Comfortable margin
1.5" 295/70R18 34.3" OEM 18" Tight at full lock — check before committing
2.5" 295/70R18 34.3" OEM 18" Fits — confirmed by forum owners
2.5" 285/70R17 32.7" OEM 17" or aftermarket No rub confirmed
2.5" 34×10.5R17 34" Aftermarket 17" Fits — Toyo RT, forum confirmed

The table documents owner combinations as built, not minimum lift requirements — narrow-section tires clear at stock height where similar-diameter wide tires do not.

I can confirm that the Mickey Thompson 255/85r17 fits without rubbing on factory wheels and factory suspension even under full articulation and at full steering lock.

— commodore, TheIneosForum, thread 12418084, March 2025

Update, July 2026: the same owner measured his tire at 34.6" diameter (108.6" circumference — matching Mickey Thompson's published spec) and reports 30,000 miles on the Baja Boss A/Ts: strong off-road performance, though highway noise increases substantially with wear.

The approved tire list from INEOS (covered in full in our approved tyres guide) is a short list of OEM-cleared SKUs. Running unapproved sizes — even sizes that physically fit — puts tyre-related warranty claims at risk. Owners running larger tires overwhelmingly accept this tradeoff with full awareness.

The Driveshaft Warning: What Eibach Says and What Happened on the Forum

This is the section most lifted-Grenadier guides skip. It shouldn't be skipped.

Eibach's product page for the Grenadier Pro-Lift kit explicitly states: "Damage could occur to factory drive shaft with change in ride height." Eibach does not publish a numeric driveshaft clearance threshold; its published language is a general warning that ride-height changes can damage the factory driveshaft.

My front driveshaft is toast, the joint at the diff is what failed. Setup: +30mm Eibach lift, OME shocks. Ineos says: self-inflicted, no warranty. CV joints run at a steeper angle with the lift — the joint angle plus internal friction in the boots adds up.

— chrsbe, TheIneosForum, thread 12422077, June 2026

The June 2026 forum thread started as a +30mm lift warranty warning, then evolved: the owner later reported a cracked circlip/Seeger ring that let the CV joint slide off the shaft with the boot intact, and other members reported similar C-clip failures on stock, unlifted Grenadiers. Lift and shock choice may still increase the probability of a peak-load axial-retention failure, but the thread no longer supports framing the issue as purely self-inflicted lift damage. The community consensus:

  • 2.5" Eibach front lift: broadly used, driveshaft issues rare in reported builds
  • 30mm setups and stock trucks both have forum-reported C-clip/Seeger-ring failures, so inspect symptoms instead of assuming lift is the only cause
  • Any lift: INEOS may deny warranty coverage for driveshaft failure after suspension modification, even when the underlying failure mode may not be exclusive to lifted trucks
  • High-mileage lifted builds: forum consensus favors periodic front driveshaft inspection — interval varies by use case, but budget for it as a wear item, not a lifetime part

Roof Height Changes & Garage Clearance

The stock Grenadier Wagon overall height is about 2,036 mm (80.2"). Forum measurements vary by trim, tire, roof strips, pressure, and load. A 2.5" lift raises body measurements by approximately that amount.

A 295/70R18 tire is roughly 2.2" larger in overall diameter than the stock 255/70R18 (about 34.3" vs 32.1") — which translates to approximately 1.1" of added ride height at the axle (half the diameter delta). Stack that on a 2.5" spring lift and total height increase lands around 3.5–3.6" versus stock. Confirm on your own vehicle with a loaded build before trusting any parking-garage clearance.

80.2" Stock roof height
~83.7" 2.5" lift + 295/70R18s
+ crossbars Measure your specific setup

Adding DVA DualTrack crossbars raises the highest point of the vehicle by the extrusion profile plus mounting bracket stack — measure your specific configuration before committing to a covered structure. In practice: a stock Grenadier fits comfortably in an 8-foot (96") parking structure. Add a 2.5" lift + 295s and you are already around 83.5–84" before crossbars; with crossbars, many builds are roughly 85"+ and will not clear a standard 7-foot residential garage door. Know your loaded roof height before every covered car park.

Engineering Note

These figures are approximations — actual height varies with tire brand/construction height, load on the vehicle, and exact spring compression under weight. Measure your own vehicle with a loaded build before committing to a parking structure.

DVA DualTrack on a Lifted Grenadier

The DVA DualTrack crossbar system mounts to the factory Grenadier roof rail attachment points using aluminum brackets and stainless hardware. Because the mounting geometry is fixed to the factory rails — not to a suspension reference point — the DualTrack crossbars work identically at any lift height. Lift your Grenadier 2.5" and the crossbars still bolt to the same attachment points, same torque spec, same load rating.

Two crossbar options exist depending on what you plan to mount:

  • DualTrack™ ($549) — Low-profile aluminum extrusion with a clean mounting surface for awnings, Versatile Mounting Clamps, and Starlink Mini. Best for owners who want a minimal roof profile with targeted accessories.
  • DualTrack-T™ MAX ($699) — Full L-Track + 25mm T-Slot in a single extrusion. Purpose-built for owners who want to run L-Track cargo fittings (tie-down rings, adjustable cleats, MOLLE panels) alongside T-Slot slide components (awning brackets, quick-attach mounts) — all from one rail. For a lifted overland build where you're changing roof loads seasonally, this is the flexible option.

What Forum Owners Are Actually Running

Below are verified build specifications from TheIneosForum. These represent the most common combinations seen in the lifted Grenadier community as of 2024–2026.

2.5" Most common Eibach front lift spec
285/70R17 Most common lifted tire — 32.7" OD
295/70R18 Most common 18" lifted tire — about 34.3"

Thread 12415790 (Eibach 2.5" + 34×10.5R17 BFG KO2, June 2024) includes a second reply confirming no rub with the Eibach 2.5" lift on 285/70R17 KM3s — one of the most common combinations in the lifted Grenadier forum community.

A second documented combination: aftermarket 17" wheels (Owl Talon), BFG KO2 285/70/17s, FOX 2.5 reservoir shocks, and Eibach lift springs. The owner sold the original factory tires after 10,960 highway miles — indicating a committed long-term build, not a quick modification. This setup is one of the most capable documented on the forum without driveshaft modifications.

For owners running the DualTrack-T™ MAX on a lifted build, the most practical accessories above the crossbars are: Starlink Mini roof mount (adds connectivity without permanent roof penetration), awning via DualTrack mount brackets, and LED side floods off the DualTrack extrusion. All three are DTP-powered and do not require drilling the roof.

Build Checklist: Before You Order Springs

  • Confirm your wheel size (17" vs 18") and target tire — these determine lift requirement
  • Check INEOS approved tire list for any warranty implications — see our approved tyres guide
  • Note your target lift height, shock pairing, and Eibach's general driveshaft warning; Eibach does not publish a numeric driveshaft clearance table
  • Measure current roof height and add your intended lift + tyre delta for garage clearance
  • If adding DualTrack crossbars post-lift: add ~1.5" to your roof clearance calculation
  • Read the full suspension lift guide for spring rate data, torque specs, and installation order
  • Confirm whether your INEOS warranty is expired or active — and whether the tradeoff is acceptable
