Use the Lowest Rating
The Station Wagon's 330 lb moving ceiling includes the installed rack, rails, bars, mounts, accessories, and cargo. Add all of them before comparing the total with the exact vehicle roof limit and every component rating. Static capacity applies only while parked. Do not publish a net cargo allowance until the exact installed hardware has been weighed or its manufacturer mass is documented.
Current DualTrack-T MAX
The rendered DualTrack-T MAX PDP specifies 6061-T6 extruded aluminum, factory attachment points, no drilling, an L-Track channel, and a 25mm T-slot channel. The Wagon supports 2, 4, or 6 rails; the Quartermaster supports 2 rails over the rear seats. Use only the ratings on the current product page; older product-page ratings do not apply.
Choose the Layout
Use two rails only when their rating and support positions fit the documented accessory. Use four rails when the accessory manufacturer requires more support and every rating remains satisfied. Confirm bracket compatibility and torque from current instructions.

Crossbars or a Full Platform?

Choose crossbars when
The cargo is one or two defined accessories, their makers publish compatible support positions, and the complete rail/bar/bracket mass stays inside every vehicle and system limit. Crossbars also make sense when open roof area and easier removal matter more than a continuous deck.
Choose a full platform when
The trip load changes regularly or truly needs a broad supported surface, the platform maker documents the intended point loads and restraint method, and its added mass still leaves adequate payload. A platform is not automatically stronger, and crossbars are not automatically lighter after adapters are counted.
Worked accounting method
Let R equal the documented installed mass of the rails/platform, A the mounted accessories, and C the trip cargo. The moving total is R + A + C. Compare it with the vehicle ceiling and system ceiling; the lower number governs. For a six-rail Wagon system, both published moving ceilings are 330 lb, but no net cargo figure is defensible until R and A are documented. For parked occupancy, repeat the calculation with people and every item on the roof against the parked ceilings.
Three practical cases
- One fixed accessory: begin with the smallest documented support layout that satisfies the accessory instructions and every limit.
- Accessories that change by trip: prioritize a repeatable interface and record the approved hardware for each item.
- Broad loose cargo: evaluate a platform, but confirm restraint and whether the deck is approved for the intended point loads.
